A guide from your mortgage broker
Get matched to homes before they're advertised
What is Yelsa?
Yelsa is a New Zealand property platform that works in reverse. Instead of you scrolling listings, sellers on Yelsa see verified buyers who match their home, and you get shown properties that fit what you're actually looking for. Sellers can match with buyers before their home is advertised anywhere.
What you get
- Matches to properties that fit your budget and criteria, including off-market homes
- Invitations to viewings and open homes, sometimes before the public sees them
- A profile that does the searching for you
- Sellers and agents see you as a verified, finance-ready buyer
What you get through your broker
Coming through your broker, you get a Finance Affiliated Buyer Profile. Your broker vouches for you ("we know this buyer"), which gives vendors and their agents greater confidence when they review you, and your broker can add finance credentials (Finance Review Completed, Pre-Approval Pending, Pre-Approved or Cash Buyer) as you progress. It's free, now or later.
Sharing your details with Yelsa
Yelsa Limited is a property-matching platform. As part of your pre-approval, your broker wants to share these details with Yelsa: your name and contact details, your pre-approval status and its expiry date, and the buying preferences you've discussed together (budget, location, property type, and similar). Yelsa uses this to match you with properties that fit your budget, and to show you to sellers and their agents as a ready, qualified buyer when there's a good match.
Yelsa doesn't sell your information, and shares it only with the sellers and agents you're matched with, nothing beyond that.
It's free to you through your broker. Once your broker sends your details, Yelsa will email you showing exactly what was set up. You can change any of it, or turn the whole thing off, with one click. Declining makes no difference to your relationship with your broker.
You can ask Yelsa what information they hold about you, ask them to fix anything wrong, or ask them to delete it, by emailing mike@yelsa.co.nz.
How to say yes
Reply "I agree" to your broker's email, or sign the authority page if they gave you a printed copy. Either counts. Your broker keeps that on file, and then sets you up.
Not working with a broker? You can set up a free Buyer Profile yourself at any time. See Yelsa for buyers.
